Transforming Local

Thanatcha was born in 1990, lives and works as lecturer at sculpture department, Faculty of Fine Arts, Chiang Mai University, Thailand. At Present she is studying Visual Arts at Chulalongkorn University. She interested on issue about the role of social identity and looking back when transition to modernity in Thailand that affect to craftsmanship and cultural changing nowadays. Her works encompass a wide variety of mediums such as sculpture, installation and mixed media. Concept of Artwork in exhibition I want to explore the phenomenon of the disappearance of roles and identities in local craftsmanship that affect from industrial development and cultural changing in modernization. It is presented through the sculpture installation which involve the Memento Mori theory by changing the perspective of traditional wood carving. For reflect the current situation of local craftsmanship and communicate the issue of revitalizing the local wisdom.
