Unveiling Objects
"The intentions of artists when creating art and the underlying concepts behind their designs undeniably shape the distinct characteristics of their artworks. Frequently, we find ourselves pondering the distinctions between art and design, questioning whether they are distinct or interconnected.
The 'Unveiling Objects' exhibition has its origins in the discussions initiated by Mr. Jean-Michel Beurdeley, one of the co-founders of the Maiiam Contemporary Art Museum. Its purpose is to illuminate the intricate ideas behind artworks and art-related objects within the framework of the design process.
The featured pieces have been carefully selected from the works of artists who are part of the the Maiiam Contemporary Art Museum’s collection.
This exhibition aims to present the perspectives of renowned artists from a unique angle through storytelling involving their personal art objects. Some of these objects are integral to the art-making process, and the narratives surrounding also encompass Mr. Jean-Michel Beurdeley's personal collections. Through discussions on design and art history from various angles, The goal is to encourage viewers to contemplate and generate questions in a time when the definitions of art and design are both diverse and endless.”
